These are general guidelines for preventive care measures that you should take to minimize disease or illness in your herd.

Required vaccines:
* Tetanus toxoid (Clostridium tetani)
* West Nile Virus
* Influenza virus
* Rhinopneumonitis (Equine Herpes Virus [EHV-1 and EHV-4])
* Equine Viral Encephalomyleitis (Eastern Equine Encephalitis,
Western Equine Encephalitis, and Venezuelan Equine
Encephalitis)
Optional vaccines:
* Rabies
* Rotavirus
* Strangles (Strep. equi)
Recommended procedures:
* Floating teeth: every two to three years; more often for older
horses as needed
* Hoof trimming: highly variable depending on activity and
environment
